Honing Tools

Summary: Finishing bores
to a high degree of accuracy.
Honing tools are used to achieve a very precise and smooth finish on the inside of a hole, typically a cylinder bore. This process, called honing, removes a small amount of material to correct imperfections in the hole's geometry, such as taper, out-of-roundness, or surface roughness. Honing tools employ abrasive stones or hones that are pressed against the bore surface while rotating and reciprocating (moving back and forth). This controlled abrasion creates a highly accurate and smooth bore, which is crucial for applications like engine cylinders, hydraulic cylinders, and other precision mechanisms where sealing and friction reduction are essential.
