The history of the Berta company began in Calamandrana, Italy, in 1960 – 65 years ago – when Franco Berta launched his artisanal activity in mechanical construction. Initially, the business focused on serving local agricultural needs and developing products and solutions for third parties in the industrial sector. The company's first proprietary product was the innovative “Rondine” motor hoe (1960), notable for its tilting motor that solved the problem of milling on steep slopes. This was followed in 1968 by the production of the “BM” motor plough, specifically designed for use in challenging steep vineyards. Equipped with power take-offs and a range of accessories like traditional and rotary ploughs, rotary tillers, motor pumps, snow ploughs, and a 4-wheel drive trailer, the "BM" motor plough represented the first truly multipurpose mechanization solution for many farmers of that era.

    Berta's commitment to innovation continued through the following decades. In 1987, the company began producing double-stage snow blowers adaptable to all brands of motor cultivators. This was followed in 1991 by the revolutionary rear “rotary plough” for motor cultivators, an advancement derived from the earlier experience with the BM motor plough. By 1994, a reversible or “turn-ear” version of this rotary plough was introduced. Demonstrating versatility, Berta also began producing semi-automatic corkers for bottles with flat corks in 1995.

    Entering the new millennium, Berta expanded its offerings further, commencing production of double-stage snow blowers designed for tractors up to 80 HP in 2000. In 2009, the company launched the “Shark” front shredder, compatible with all brands of motor cultivators.

    Today, the Berta company, long guided by Franco's sons Enzo, Sergio, and Graziano, continues its dual operational focus. Alongside the production of its own line of specialized agricultural machinery, the company actively manufactures mechanical parts and assemblies for third-party clients. Berta's sales network maintains a strong presence in both the national Italian market and various foreign markets, reflecting its enduring legacy and continued development.
