The Camisa brothers, Mario and
Giuseppe, took their first steps into the world of business in 1954 in the
small workshop of Serra di Bedonia (Parma), Italy. Mario, drawing from his
apprenticeship in a mechanical workshop and assisted by Giuseppe, initially
dedicated their efforts to repairing and constructing manual agricultural
tools, alongside farrier activities. This evolved into repairing ploughs and
agricultural machinery, marking the beginning of a 71-year legacy for what is
now CAMISA s.n.c. Their resourcefulness and ingenuity led the brothers
to officially enter the ranks of agricultural machinery manufacturers in
1961, upon obtaining their first "Patent for Industrial Invention"
for the "Cassone con ruote applicabile a motofalciatrice" (wheeled
carrier applicable to motor mowers). This machine, commonly called
"Torello" or affectionately "Sputnik" by the numerous
farmers of the Taro and Ceno Valleys who used it, heralded the era of the
"Motoagricola - Transporter" for the company. This agricultural
transport vehicle quickly gained popularity throughout Italy and was
successfully introduced to foreign markets, including France, Switzerland,
and Burundi in Central Africa. During the 1970s, the company diversified by adding
a new production line: "Motocarriole a ruote" (wheeled motorized
barrows/transporters), innovative transport systems for both agricultural and
construction fields. By the end of the 1980s, the evolution of this vehicle
concept gave rise to the first "Tracked transporters" of Italian
construction, a product line now available in a wide array of versions. The
"Trattorini" (compact tracked tractors) also joined the tracked line
in the 1990s, a period which also saw the commencement of construction for
the company's current "Trattrici" (tractors) and
"Operatrici" (specialized self-propelled operating machines). A significant leadership transition occurred in 1998
when the reins of the company passed to Roberto and Massimo, Mario's sons,
both of whom had joined the company at a very young age. The two founders
then took on supervisory roles. The family nature of the company has become
even more pronounced in recent years, with the active collaboration of the
partners' wives and Roberto's children, signaling a smooth progression
towards the third generation of family involvement. In the meantime, CAMISA s.n.c. has continued to
broaden its horizons in foreign markets. Currently, exports are significantly
directed towards the United States, particularly for the railway maintenance
sector. Key European markets include the United Kingdom and Denmark, which
primarily purchase transporters for the construction sector, as well as
France, Switzerland, Austria, and Germany, where the company's line of
tracked vehicles equipped for viticulture is exported. The ongoing search for
niche markets requiring diversified and high-quality equipment means that the
company is continually studying and developing new machines to offer its
customers. Among these new products are tracked transporters equipped with
atomizers for fruit and wine growing in high-mountain terrains and
specialized units equipped for cleaning beaches. |
