With an illustrious history
spanning 80 years, Caprari S.p.A., an Italian industrial group founded in
1945, has been "shaping water" by specializing in advanced
solutions and applications for efficient and sustainable integrated water
cycle management. Over these decades, Caprari has consolidated profound
knowledge and extensive experience while developing a significant
international presence, establishing itself as a global market leader and a
benchmark for quality and efficiency for all those who have made water their
world. The company was established by its founder, Amadio
CAPRARI, in 1945 in Rolo, in the province of Reggio Emilia, initially to
manufacture pumps primarily for agricultural irrigation purposes. A strategic
choice was later made to move the company’s headquarters to Modena, thus
placing it in the center of one of Italy’s most important industrial
districts. Early milestones included the manufacture of its first Surface
Pumps and Vertical Lineshaft Pumps in 1949, followed by the construction of a
new 40,000 sq m facility in 1965, reflecting its initial phase of
passion-driven growth. The period from 1965 to 1985 was marked by
significant innovation. A pivotal moment came in 1968 with the launch of
Caprari's first series of submersible electric pumps for deep clean water
wells—a product range that still represents the heart of the company today.
Caprari pioneered a broad range of solutions for various different
applications. This era also saw steady growth fuel international expansion,
beginning with the opening of its first foreign subsidiary in France in 1970,
followed by branches in Spain, the UK, Germany, Portugal, Australia, Greece,
Tunisia, and China. Technological advancement was further underscored by the
introduction of its first Flexible Manufacturing System (FMS) in 1985. From 1985 to 2005, Caprari continued its growth
trajectory. In 1986, the company acquired a factory in the province of
Modena, dedicated to the production of submersible motors, further enhancing
the efficiency of its electric pumps. The product range expanded again in
1988 with the introduction of a series of submersible pumps for wastewater.
Demonstrating a strong commitment to customer centricity, Caprari created
Italy’s first pump selection software, opened its own Training Centre to
train its customers’ staff, and was among the first Italian companies to
obtain integrated management system certification. This period culminated
with the opening of a new Logistics and Training Center in 2005. The years 2005 to 2020 were defined by advanced
technology and the continuous launch of new products for new applications,
thanks to sustained investments in R&D. Notable examples include the
ENDURANCE series, made from micro-cast steel for heavy-duty applications such
as Mining and Offshore, and the ENERGY series, which prioritizes energy
saving. Numerous international patents developed during this time decreed
Caprari’s brand leadership and continued its esteemed reputation. A standout
innovation is the DryWet System™ cooling technology for the K+ series
submersible pumps, which was awarded at EIMA in 2018 as the best innovation
and positions these pumps as a leading solution for wastewater management.
Digital initiatives also flourished with the 2008 launch of iPump, a web
portal for water professionals, the 2014 launch of the K+ ENERGY series, and
the establishment of a Joint Venture in Turkey in 2015. Today, Caprari's
extensive network of distributors and partners worldwide ensures its presence
in more than 96 countries, supporting global water management needs. |
