Brief Description: Daedong's historical entry into the overseas market
began in 1982. The company introduced its first tractor to the US market in
1986, and to effectively tap into this new territory, Daedong USA was founded
in 1993. Recognizing that the brand name “DAEDONG,” which is based on Chinese
characters, would be difficult for non-Chinese character cultures such as
those in North America and Europe, a strategic decision was made to target
the overseas market with the distinct brand name 'KIOTI'. During its early years in the US market, beginning
in 1985, Daedong partnered with a local agricultural machine company called
Lely KIOTI for Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) supply. In 1993,
concurrent with the foundation of Daedong USA, the company acquired the
brand, and KIOTI officially became the designated brand for Daedong's
overseas markets. The English pronunciation of KIOTI is similar to
that of ‘coyote’, a North American animal resembling a wolf. The name has
since been characterized as a symbol of a coyote roaring its powerful spirit
to the world. |
