Eliet Europe Nv

Brief Description:

The name ELIET is a contraction of its founder and inspirer, Emiel Lietaer, who has put his stamp on the company since its very beginning. Born in 1947 into a family with a remarkable eight successive generations of blacksmiths, Emiel grew up surrounded by farm machinery and built up broad technical experience through practical training in several French and German machinery factories.

Faithful to his roots, Emiel initially set up a metal construction workshop for building stables. However, due to the revival of garden culture in the 1970s, he quickly expanded into the sale of garden machinery. It was during this time that Emiel Lietaer realized that there were no tailor-made solutions available for many common gardening problems. Thanks to his creative mind and technical skills, the first ELIET machines were produced around 1980, laying the foundation for the machinery factory. A great breakthrough came in 1986 with the company's participation in the International Agricultural Week at the Heysel in Brussels. The continuously growing demand for Eliet machines that followed quickly obliged the company to make significant investments and expand both its buildings and its headcount—a trend of growth that continues to this day.

The saying, "The apple never falls far from the tree," applies perfectly to Frederic Lietaer, Emiel's son. From an early age, Frederic came into contact with the machines, design process, technology, and the growing number of customers of the company his father built. It should, therefore, be no surprise that he also grew to love the profession just as much and that, after completing his studies, he was determined to continue the ELIET success story for the next generation.
