Brief Description: With a rich history approaching a century, ISEKI
& Co., Ltd. was founded in August 1926 as the “Iseki Farm Implement
Trading Co.” in Matsuyama-shi, Ehime-ken, Japan. The company was formally
incorporated in April 1936, at which point it commenced the production of
ISEKI rice hullers and automatic rice graders. Following the construction of
new plants in Yashiro-machi (1946) and Kumamoto (1949), the company's shares
were listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange in June 1961, setting the stage for
significant growth. A pivotal moment in agricultural mechanization came in
March 1967 when ISEKI started the production of rice transplanters, combine
harvesters, and binders, successfully creating a mechanized, integrated
system for rice cultivation that combined these machines with their tractors.
This era of growth saw the Tokyo Branch being renamed "Tokyo
Headquarters" in 1969 and the beginning of its international expansion
with the establishment of N.V. ISEKI Europe S.A. in Brussels in 1971. The company continued to expand and evolve its
structure throughout the following decades. The head office was relocated to
an expanded Matsuyama plant in 1972, and the Engineering Department was moved
to Tobe-cho in 1982. In 2001, the Matsuyama and Kumamoto plants were
separated into affiliated manufacturing companies. The early 2000s marked a
significant push into Asia, with the establishment of Iseki–Changzhou Mfg.
Co., Ltd. in Jiangsu, China, in 2003, followed by Dongfeng Iseki Agricultural
Machinery (Hubei) Co., Ltd. in 2011, and the establishment of a presence in
Indonesia in 2012. A key strategic acquisition occurred in July 2014 when
ISEKI acquired ownership of the French company Yvan Beal S.A.S., which was
subsequently renamed ISEKI France S.A.S in 2015. In recent years, ISEKI has focused on strengthening
its global training, research, and distribution capabilities. This includes
the establishment of the ISEKI Technical Training Center (ITTC) in 2013, the
Dream Agricultural Research Institute in 2015, and the ISEKI Global Training
Center in 2017. International expansion has continued with the establishment
of subsidiaries and the acquisition of distributors in Thailand (2013, 2016,
2020) and Germany (2022). A significant manufacturing consolidation took place
in July 2024, when the Iseki-Kumamoto and Iseki-Matsuyama manufacturing
companies were incorporated to establish the new ISEKI M&D Co., Ltd.,
streamlining their production capabilities for the future. |
