Brief Description: With a rich history spanning 128 years, the Krone
company began its journey in 1897 when Bernhard Krone established a
blacksmith and craft business in Spelle, Germany. The business was later
taken over by his two eldest sons, Bernard and Heinrich, marking the
transition to the second generation. Shortly after the end of World War II, Krone
restarted production, launching its first manure spreader, the iconic Optimat, which would go on to sell approximately 200,000 units by the
1990s. In 1962, the third generation of the family joined the company, and a
year later, in 1963, the commercial vehicle plant was established in Werlte,
Germany. From 1973 to the present day, Krone has launched
numerous innovative machines that have shaped the agricultural industry. Key
milestones include the introduction of their first round baler in 1977, the
first large square balers in 1993, the groundbreaking BiG M self-propelled mower in 1996, and the BiG X forage harvester in 2000.
This spirit of innovation has continued with the world's first mobile
non-stop round baler-wrapper combination, the Ultima, in 2011, and a
concept study of an autonomous "process engineering unit" (VTE). In
2007, Bernard Krone joined the company, representing the fourth generation of
family leadership in this globally operating enterprise. |
