The story of Bourgault is a 52-year Canadian saga of "Pursuing Perfection," a tale born from the retreating glaciers of the last ice age. The landscape left behind around St. Brieux, Saskatchewan—rich in potential but plagued by unforgiving stone and rock—set the stage for Frank Bourgault. A farmer, dealer, and inventor at heart, Frank was driven by a singular frustration with equipment failures in these harsh conditions. He set out to build a cultivator that could conquer the rock, and in 1973, from that determination, F.P. Bourgault Industries was born.

At the very heart of their identity is a legacy of invention that runs through the family bloodline. From Frank's early teenage creations to the revolutionary Dual-Purpose Cultivator that launched the company, the mission has always been to design the most durable and reliable farm equipment in the world. This spirit was passed down to his sons—Gerry, Joseph, and Claude—who helped transform a small local factory into a global manufacturing powerhouse.

This is a story of historic firsts. In 1980, Bourgault released the world’s first tow-behind air seeder cart, a pivotal moment that placed air seeding at the core of their business forever. Their narrative is defined by agronomic breakthroughs, most notably the Mid Row Bander® system. This innovation allowed farmers to apply nitrogen fertilizer in a single pass without burning the seed, a technique refined through their own extensive research farm to maximize crop emergence and yield.

Today, operating from a massive 500,000-square-foot facility, the story of Bourgault is one of a world-class company marketing its products to every corner of the globe.
