The story of engcon is a Swedish narrative of vision
and revolution, a journey that began in the mid-1980s with an engineer named
Stig Engström. While working at Noreco, Stig encountered an inventor with a
peculiar twisting and tilting device for excavators. Where others saw a niche
gadget, Stig saw the future. He became convinced that the tiltrotator would
fundamentally change the world of digging, transforming the rigid excavator
into a flexible, multi-tool wonder. At the very heart of their identity is the courage
to pioneer. In 1990, Stig founded engcon in his home village of Lidsjöberg,

company presented its tiltrotator at the EMEX trade fair in Stockholm, and by
1999, the device’s popularity had swept the Nordic region, earning engcon its
first "Gazelle of the Year" award—a title they would win so many

As production capabilities grew—expanding to Poland in 2003—so did the
ambition. In 2016, engcon became the only global supplier of a complete
solution comprising tiltrotators, control systems, and tools. But innovation
wasn't just about movement; it was about protection. The launch of the Q-Safe
system and the Non Accident Generation initiative proved that engcon was as
committed to safety as they were to efficiency. By 2019, the automatic quick
coupling system, EC-Oil, became standard, cementing their status as the
industry benchmark. This is a story of a local hero going global. From a
small village startup to a publicly traded powerhouse, engcon’s trajectory
has been meteoric. In 2022, the company rang the bell at Nasdaq Stockholm, a
milestone for Stig and the team. Yet, despite the global footprint—with
offices from Canada to South Korea and Japan—the soul of the company remains
rooted in that early vision of changing how the world digs. Today, the story of engcon is one of sustainability
and leadership. Joining the Science Based Targets Initiative and the UN
Global Initiative, engcon is now leading the transition to a carbon-neutral
