The story of Haver & Boecker Niagara is a
narrative of convergence and cascading innovation, a journey that flows from
two distinct 19th-century origins into a singular global powerhouse. It began
on two continents: in 1872, when Washington Samuel Tyler founded his company
in Cleveland, Ohio, with a philosophy that products must help customers
profit; and in 1887, when Carl Haver and Eduard Boecker established their
firm in Germany. For decades, these two entities ran parallel courses until a
single revolutionary design brought them together. At the very heart of their identity is the
"Niagara" moment. In 1930, the course of the industry changed
during a meeting in Cincinnati, Ohio. Fritz Haver witnessed a presentation by
William Wettlaufer, an inventor who had designed a new generation of
vibrating screens. Wettlaufer named his invention after Niagara Falls,
inspired by the way coarse material tumbled off the discharge end like the
majestic waters of the falls. Recognizing the genius of the design, Haver
& Boecker secured the license, while The W.S. Tyler Company
simultaneously adopted the technology in North America. The
"Niagara" became the gold standard for screening, linking the
companies forever. This is a story of rugged adaptation. As the decades
passed, the technology had to evolve to meet the earth's toughest challenges.
In 1974, the company expanded into Brazil, a land rich in high-grade iron
ore. The aggressive nature of this material demanded a machine with immense
durability, leading to the engineering of heavy-duty Niagara screens that
became the machine of choice for the South American mining industry. This is a story of global unity. What started as
separate successes converged completely in 2019, when Haver & Boecker
Niagara was launched as the new, global brand for mineral processing
technology. This union brought together the manufacturing powerhouses of
Germany, Brazil, and Canada under one flag. Today, the story of Haver & Boecker Niagara is
one of a leader in screening and pelletizing. It is a promise that combines
over 140 years of history with future-forward engineering, all dedicated to
Washington Samuel Tyler’s original operating principle: that their products
are not an end in themselves, but a means for the customer to accomplish
something useful and profitable. |
