Pioneering the Concrete Mixer London Machinery’s engineering timeline is
essentially a history of modern concrete transport. They have consistently
pushed the boundaries of how heavy materials are mixed and delivered to the
job site: 1908: The
company produced its very first mixer—a heavy-duty, steam-driven concrete
machine. 1931:
Recognizing the need for job-site mobility, London engineered and produced
its first-ever truck-mounted mixer. 1958:
Advancing their transport designs, they manufactured the first non-tilting
truck-mounted mixer. 1979: The
company achieved a major national milestone by building Canada’s first
Oshkosh front-discharge mixer, radically improving the operator's pouring
visibility and control. A Decade of Rapid Expansion and Technological
Leaps The 1990s and early 2000s marked a period of
aggressive product development and cross-border expansion. In 1992, London
developed its rugged 13m³ Trailer Mixer—a design so effective it remains in
production today. The engineering momentum continued with the launch of their
first Bridgemaster mixer in 1995 and the High Performance Mixer in 1996. To support this growing technological footprint,
London systematically expanded into the United States, opening dedicated
branches in Florida (1993), Dallas-Fort Worth (1995), and Buffalo, New York
(2003). The dawn of the 21st century brought even more innovation, with the
introduction of the highly practical Chute Assist feature in 2001 and the
launch of the industry's inaugural wirelessly controlled mixer in 2002. The Oshkosh Era and Modern Manufacturing In 2005, London Machinery’s proven mechanical
pedigree caught the attention of Oshkosh Corporation, leading to a strategic
acquisition. Backed by a major global conglomerate, London rapidly
diversified and modernized: Market
Expansion: In 2006, the company entered the heavy-duty refuse market,
becoming the Canadian distributor for McNeilus Refuse. The following year,
they expanded their concrete solutions by selling their first batch plant for
sister company CON-E-CO. State-of-the-Art Production: To handle
massive industrial demand, London broke ground on a massive
140,000-square-foot facility in London, Ontario, in 2009, officially moving
in and producing their first mixer there in 2010. An
Uncompromising Commitment to Safety: Proving that human safety is just as
critical as mechanical reliability, the company achieved Safety Management
System (SMS) Tier I status in 2012, followed swiftly by Tier II advancement
in 2013. Today, London Machinery continues to leverage its
century of engineering expertise to deliver the rugged, reliable heavy
equipment required to build the future. |
