Summary: Lifting and transporting palletized loads

Forklifts are powered industrial trucks used to lift and move materials over short distances. They are a staple in warehouses, distribution centers, factories, and construction sites, playing a crucial role in efficient material handling.

Function: Forklifts primarily use a pair of front-mounted forks to lift and transport palletized goods or other materials. The forks can be raised and lowered, and the mast (the vertical structure that raises the forks) can also be tilted for stability.

Power: Forklifts are powered by various means:

Electric: Battery-powered, suitable for indoor use due to zero emissions.

Internal Combustion (IC): Powered by gasoline, propane, or diesel engines, used for heavier-duty outdoor applications.

Types: Forklifts come in different types and sizes:

Counterbalance forklifts: The most common type, with a weight in the rear to balance the load.

Reach trucks: Designed for narrow aisles in warehouses, with a mechanism to extend the forks.

Rough terrain forklifts: Rugged machines for outdoor use on uneven ground.
