Brief
Description: Braun Maschinenbau GmbH was
established in 1958 by Stefan Braun, Sr., in an old village smithy located in
Burrweiler, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. For 67 years, the company has been
dedicated to designing and manufacturing machinery to order, specifically for
organic soil cultivation in vineyards and orchards. Its innovative and proven
products are now sold via a worldwide dealer network, establishing BRAUN as
one of the leading manufacturers of special machinery for viticulture and
special crops. The company's central philosophy is encapsulated in its
slogan: “clean around the vine without chemicals.” A characteristic feature
of their offerings is the BRAUN modular system, where the modular design of
the equipment allows for flexible adaptation to all requirements and work
situations. All simple base units are modularly expandable for this purpose,
ensuring that every customer can be offered a customized and cost-effective
individual solution. Braun Maschinenbau's history is marked by major
milestones in innovation. As early as 1965, the owner developed the company’s
first pioneering viticulture solution: the grape transporter and forklift,
for which he registered a German utility model. Other labor-saving
developments and patents soon followed, including the centre-mounted
under-vine weeder, the wire unroller, the vine stem cleaner, and the Alpha
Sensotronic mulcher. From its beginnings, this family business in
Rhineland-Palatinate has been an innovative force in manufacturing machinery
for vineyards and orchards. In 1994, Stefan Braun, Jr., having previously
worked at Mannesmann-Rexroth, joined the executive board of his father’s
company. He was instrumental in encouraging a focus on the international
market, and today the company supplies customers throughout western,
southern, and eastern Europe, North and South America, Canada, Australia, New
Zealand, Oceania, and South Africa. As a result, the mechanical engineering
company has evolved into a global player specializing in machinery for
organic vineyards and orchards. Thanks to the continuing global trend towards
organic soil cultivation, order volumes for BRAUN machinery have increased
sharply in recent years, necessitating an expansion of production capacities.
As there was no economically viable way to expand facilities at the company’s
original site in Burrweiler, the firm acquired a 6,800 sq. m site in the “Am
Messgelände” industrial area in Landau in 2014. Here, they built a new office
and production building of nearly 3,000 square metres, which doubled the previous
production area and provided room for future expansion. By 2017, this Landau
site was further enlarged to 12,500 sq. m. To accommodate continued growth,
construction work began in late summer 2019 on an additional new production
and storage facility totaling almost 3,000 square metres, which was ready for
use by September 2020. Further strengthening its European presence, Braun
Maschinenbau established a wholly-owned subsidiary in Trento, Italy, Braun
Macchine Agricole, in the summer of 2019, opening up new opportunities to
serve the vital Italian market better and faster. The great mechanical
ruggedness and reliability of BRAUN machinery continue to underpin its
leading position internationally. |
