With a history spanning 34 years, FONTANA, Ltd. was founded in 1991 in Dolný Kubín, Slovakia, by Ing. Juraj Gočal, Ing. Mária Humajová, and Ing. Marián Cibulák. The newly founded company's main area of focus was the construction and sale of spare parts for agricultural machines. During this early period, FONTANA, Ltd. became the first company in Slovakia to receive a certificate for the thermal insulation of buildings.

    After the departure of one of the founding members in 1993, the company profiled itself to focus primarily on the sale of agricultural machinery and spare parts. A key partnership began in 1997 with the start of cooperation in the sale of feed and mixing wagons with the Italian company Gilioli Srl. This experience led, in 1999, to FONTANA, Ltd. beginning to manufacture its own products—specialized knives for feed wagons.

    A significant corporate change occurred in 2000 when the company transformed from a limited liability company (Ltd) to a joint-stock company (PLC), a move that brought in a new foreign shareholder. At the same time, FONTANA, PLC widened its range of knife production, solidifying its position as a specialized manufacturer in the agricultural sector.
