Aturia began its activity in 1927 as an agency for foreign firms specializing in various types of pumps and blowers. Through enthusiasm and managerial skill, this developed into an industry capable of designing and building pumps to meet market needs. The first factory was built in Milan in 1934, covering a 1000m2 area.

In 1946, Aturia opened a new, larger factory with modern machinery and a test room, focusing on the assembly of electrically driven submersible pumps up to 500HP, special surface pumps for dense liquids, and liquid vacuum pumps and Root type blowers. During this period, Aturia patented submersible motors, revolutionizing water lifting from wells.

By 1958, Aturia's business growth necessitated a new, larger manufacturing site in Gessate, near Milan. This site was equipped with a test room for electric driven pump sets up to 800 HP and manufactured a wider range of pumps, including drainage, surface, monophase centrifuges, auto priming, high-pressure multicellular, liquid vacuum pneumatic, and low-pressure Root type volumetric compressors. The ample space allowed for warehousing and assembly of large-scale machinery.

In 1960, Aturia developed a new range of submersible motors filled with water and wounded with copper wires coated with thermoplastic materials, becoming a leader in this technology. This expanded their market opportunities globally.

Aturia began collaborating with the Italian Navy in 1970, supplying submersible electric pumps for main bilge and fire-fighting services.

In 1995, Aturia introduced the application of Frequency Converters to adjust the rotating speed of submersible motors, reducing energy consumption. They also developed motors and submersible pumps suitable for high-speed operation, installing the first 6″ submersible pumps running at 6,000 rpm in the Milan Area. Frequency Converters allow for optimization of pump operating points, leading to significant reductions in total cost of ownership.

In 2007, Aturia improved submersible pump efficiency through the development of the Lost Wax Casting Process and produced a range of Stainless Steel Pumps. The precision casting process ensures low roughness of cast parts, resulting in greater efficiency. Duplex and Super Duplex Pumps are also available for operation in severe atmospheres.
